Children’s Tent
The Children’s Tent is a rich tradition which invites children through high school age to view and select works of art. Children are greeted at the entrance of the tent, assisted by fair volunteer guides if need be. While inside the tent they are free to roam around and look at all the art available for purchase at special prices. All visitors are encouraged to select something which appeals to them specifically. After paying for their purchase older children may leave while younger children are kept at the exit, by a volunteer, until a recognized parent or other accompanying adult is identified by the child.
Artists who participate in the fair are encouraged to submit original works for the Children’s Tent. These are not “seconds” or “mistakes”. Many artists take great joy and satisfaction in knowing they have made it possible for a young person to own original art, at a reasonable price. Items are currently priced at $4, $5, and $6. Afterwards it’s fun for the children to visit the artist at the artist’s booth in the general fair.
